Fannin Family Connection has a Permanent Home, More Space

With help from Feed Fannin volunteers and a host of other community organizations, businesses and churches, Fannin County Family Connection moved in late September into spacious new quarters in a building it now owns.

The new location, 501 Industrial Park Road, is just a quarter mile from the leased building Family Connection had previously occupied and is in the same industrial complex, but it is a much larger facility that Family Connection’s Executive Director Sherry Morris says will enable the organization to provide vital services to families and children in need within the community for decades to come.

Purchased with the help of donors who wish to remain anonymous, the building – last occupied by Nordic Rye – required significant renovations, cleaning and painting over about three months, and Feed Fannin volunteers numbered prominently among those who pitched in to do the work.

Feed Fannin also funded the purchase of additional shelving for the FC Food Pantry and is setting up a new produce display in the pantry that will underline the source of the produce as Feed Fannin.

In addition to the Food Pantry, ample space for Family Connection services and offices, when final touches have been completed, the building will feature a 2,500-square-foot meeting room that will be available for use by other community organizations.
